Given that the adaption of popular Marvel character Thor is getting his movie debut this weekend, a friend of mine linked me to this article talking about some of the original portrayals of the Norse gods and how silly they were, compared to the portrayals of other gods in other religions.

Hey, thanks for the mention! And your friend, too. The best part about the original story was that Thor didn’t even bother to shave his beard off to help with the disguise. Actually, that was the second best part – THE best part was that it ended up with Thor beating the crap out of the giants while dressed in drag and looking faaaaaabulous.
