I’ve never actually noticed this. I’ll have to try it…
This is why you don’t go into tall grass alone!
I never connected flat tongues with dogs before. Huh.
That should totally be a new rule in the Evil Overlord book!
Guess what? Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Search – Part 1 is headed to stores and available for purchase from comic shops right now!
For those of you who haven’t seen Avatar: The Last Airbender, today is your lucky day! Go watch all of it right now! For our non-US readers, the show is call Avatar: The Legend of Aang outside the US. After that you you’ll get to watch the sequel series Avatar: Legend of Korra and read the last graphic novel Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Promise (Parts 1,2, and 3)! So much to catch up on and it is so worth it, because one of everybody’s major questions from the first series is finally about to be answered, or at least starting to be answered, since The Search will have 3 parts just like The Promise.
The co-creator of the show, Mike DiMartino, has posted an article advertising the release of the comic. In it he shares his fears about releasing this story. It’s been four and a half years since the conclusion of Avatar: The Last Airbender with this major question hanging over our heads. People have been fantasizing what the answer might be. Will this comic answer it satisfactorily or will things go the way of Lost? It’s a creator’s dilemma and if you know what question I’m talking about, I recommend reading the article here.

I’ve never really been in this situation. I’m usually the one saying “programming!”
Does this make creepers a kind of STD?
I think we’ve all experienced this at some point.
My cat does not lack such intelligence, she just lacks the courage… so far.
It’s true too! So weird to see them floating around in the toilet when I haven’t puked.
Sadly this is what a lot of vacations are like…
I just kind of stumbled onto this comic thanks to an advertisement and well… this page made me laugh out loud. So you get to see it too!
Yay for feminine hygiene products!
Get off my lawn!
I do not have this problem… most of the time.
Neither cats I live with know how to use scratching boxes… only chairs and couches.
At least they had 100% of the population vote! Well turn in a ballot…
Hi guys. No Free Write today! I was actually expecting to still be doing NaNoWriMo at the moment. But in fact, I won yesterday! So I’ve so far been relishing my last fifteen or so hours of not having to write a ton of words, until I realized that it is a Wednesday and I don’t have a Free Write for you guys. So I hope you’ll forgive me. Free Write will return next week in December with a character window from Everlasting.
In the mean time check out the video I just posted, or maybe go read this comic I was recently linked to called Unsounded by Ashley Cope. An amazing fantasy world with several compelling heroes and some amazing art. If there is one thing to complain about it is, of course, how slowly the comic is created, once you’ve read through the backlog.
Dina is a comforting friend.
My cat allows belly petting in the evening. But not during the day.
I sometimes worry this is how my progeny will evolve.
I have a much similar face for “I want peanut butter” and “I really need to visit the toilet” or so I’m told.
REALLY REALLY big.
Dedicated to all my friends in Canada.
It’s not like its common knowledge, right?
Dangit. Now a tech race is going to break out err I mean… good point. We should start looking into something new… yeah.
Grrl Power is a comic but I’m not exactly sure how to describe what it is about. It’s about a girl who co-owns a comic shop with a mysterious messenger tube, in a world where superheroes exist and belong to a privatized military force.
Why? Well because it is hilarious. For example this is our main character. She is a doofus.
If you want a better write up of what the comic is about, here is what the author has written.
Not to say the comic doesn’t have its down points. For example it’s pace is on par with episodes of Lost in terms of plot. While each update is entertaining, it has taken three years to get through about a day’s worth of time in the comic. The comic only updates about once a week. Additionally the art style might take some getting used to, depending on your preferences. It is in no way bad art but it is somewhat stylized and might not be to everybody’s taste, but keep at it. It’d be worth it.
One of my favorite comic artists, Faith Erin Hicks, has another graphic novel coming out called Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong. It will be releasing in the next few months. What’s awesome, however, is that it is being released on the internet right now!
According to Erin the story is about two guys who go to school together named Nate and Charlie. One of them is a nerd and the other a jock but they still manage to be friends, sorta, until they both get caught up in this year’s school election. Also there will be “ninja cheerleaders, over the top comedy and SO MANY BATTLE ROBOTS.”
I remember her tweeting about the robots. I’m looking forward to that.
The first 17 or so pages are already up and ready to read. It’s a great set of pages as well. I’ll even give you a challenge. Before page 3, guess which character is the jock and which character is the nerd (answer on page 4 for your people who must be spoiled). I can tell Prudence has a great story lined up because I can already see the depth of the characters within the first few pages and Erin’s comic style can portray so much regardless of dialog.
So yeah I’ll be reading it. Plus ninja cheerleaders and battle robots.
