Stickleback

Noun

  • Any one of numerous species of small fishes of the genus Gasterosteus and allied genera. The back is armed with two or more sharp spines. They inhabit both salt and brackish water, and construct curious nests.

Used in a sentence:

  • Not that Marie was aquatic by any means but she resembled a stickleback in as far as she became prickly and hostile both in and out of her natural element.

Commentary:

I’m not even sure where I found this work but it certainly is fun to say. It is also a very descriptive word I might have thought it an adjective rather than a noun or perhaps some kind of fantasy creature. Of course now you know exactly what it is so the next time you read about the stickleback armies of risa seven, you can snicker at the thought of fish flopping on the ground, choking to death. You fish hater you.
