The beginning felt kinda like a Transformers film. The ending was awesome though. I saw Loki in there but I’m really wondering if he’ll be the big bad or if he’ll be the facilitator to bring in the big bad(s).
So as per my post yesterday, showing off Dan Well’s fantasy football team, I’ve decided to draft my own team in similar style. Afterall if there is only one team in the SPFL (Speculative Fiction Football League) (I would have claimed FFL but I suspect the NFL already has that as their acronym for fantasy football, right?) then Dan’s team would automatically win and we can’t have that, right?
So to be fair, I’ll be picking in a similar style to Dan Well’s choices and I will also not be able to pick any of the choices he has made.
So according to the snippets of football movies and televisions shows I’ve seen, the Coach is the guy who gets pissed off a lot on the side lines while their team sucks and then ultimately gets liquids poured on them when the team manages to come together and win, despite all the odds. I also think they plan the maneuvers the team does on the field, because I remember scenes of coaches pointing at Xs and Os a lot. So I need someone who is a master of strategy, and for flavor, I want someone who stays cool under pressure. First person that comes to mind is The Riddler but having my coach get beat up at half time by some lunatic in a bat costume (who isn’t a mascot!) would be bad press. There is, of course, Original Universe Spock, whose logic would likely benefit the team heavily but I suspect his cool demeanor would work against his ability to motivate the rest of the team. So ultimately my choice is going to have to come from Shikimaru from Naruto. Sure he is a little young to be a coach, but he is a master strategist. Additionally his usually lazy demeanor would keep him from getting overly heated when his team was losing while still motivating him and his ability to control shadows would keep this team from sneaking up behind him to pour liquids over his head.
So as Dan put it, the QB need to throw stuff and be a good field leader. I’ll translate good field leader into is good with tactics. Well the first choice is Waka from Final Fantasy X. Afterall he played in his world’s version of football called Blitz Ball, and his primary combat weapon is throwing a blitz ball at enemies. However I think he might be lacking in the tactics part, since his team kinda sucked until Tidus came along. Another good thrower would be Donkey Kong but I suspect his tactics would be to just throw passes or run the ball himself, which is tactically sound but not always preferable. I don’t want a QB who is predictable. So I will have to go with Link from Legend of Zelda: A link to the Past. Link is a weapon’s expert, well-known for his ability to throw both boomerangs, bombs, rocks, bushes, and even clay pots. In addition the man has saved the kingdom of Hyrule (and various other principalities) from evil multiple times over without a team or coaching, which would suggest excellent tactical capabilities.
Okay so remember back in October of last year, there was this trailer for this game that I said I was really looking forward to? Well I do, barely. It is called X-Men Destiny and E3 this year finally offered up some new information: a trailer.
So I admit after the last teaser trailer, this the visuals of this trailer are a bit of a let down, but honestly that is to be expected. Similar to Dead Island’s breakout trailer and its demo comparison, there was little to no way the game could live up to that awesomeness.
That being said the speech given between Cyclops and Magneto was brilliant writing, even if the game play elements and graphics looked a little unimpressive. I admit I was hoping for more of a fully customizable character, rather than three different characters but I can understand the sacrifice. The game is giving hints that it is very story focused (such as the narration of the trailer) which is really what I would like. The X-Men Legends series was fun but the story was hard to immerse myself in and prior Marvel based games have basically all been brawlers and fighters. Still the game is being created by Silicon Knights, whose most notable game was Eternal Darkness, and most recent game was Too Human.
Given that the adaption of popular Marvel character Thor is getting his movie debut this weekend, a friend of mine linked me to this article talking about some of the original portrayals of the Norse gods and how silly they were, compared to the portrayals of other gods in other religions.
Heh. Thor in drag.
Okay not really. It’s a fan made trailer using all the prior movies but really… it’s an amazing trailer just with that.
The ending, in particular, is rather awesome, I feel.
So that was a little… eclectic eh? First off very bright and shiny. I kinda like that.
Second of all… Pixie! Yay! A rather adult looking pixie, which is kinda weird. But sure, whatever. I mean who doesn’t like Pixie? Okay so I know there is a very distinct possibility that isn’t Pixie but a rather obscure character known as Angel Salvatore but here is hoping…
Thirdly, mysterious teleporter whom they want us to believe is Nightcrawler! Except we know he isn’t because this is the past and Nightcrawler isn’t red. Any guess who this might be? Azazel? Belasco? Mephisto? Good money is on Azazel but you never know…
Story is hard to follow but this is a teaser anyway. But it looks like we’ll be switching between Magneto/Prof X’s past, and the “original X-men” before Wolverine found them. Looks like we’ll be seeing a few origin stories, like Beast and Emma Frost going Diamond again. Might that be Havok shooting Cyclops like power out of his hands? Not sure. I was really hoping for some more Gambit action. Loving the return of Mystique. I’m almost certain this plot is going to revolve around the Hellfire club in some form or fashion…
So I’m wondering if this is going to be the death of the X-Men Origins: Magneto movie. After what this will supposedly reveal, is there a point?
Any guesses on other characters/plot points?
Thor was never really my guy, ya know? Actually up until recently, I wasn’t big for any Marvel characters except for the X-Men universe and possibly Spiderman (and really more Spiderman’s villains than Spiderman himself).
But I am seriously liking this trailer.
Techno-magical society of “Gods” throws this guy named Thor down to earth as punishment for being a total ass hat, and we get to see mister ass hat grow to become a bad ass hero instead of simply a bad ass ass. I said ass a lot in that in that sentence didn’t I?
The trailer actually makes me interested in the movie not because of the comic but because the movie looks interesting! I love the feel and style of the Asgardians. Hehe. You thought I almost said ass again didn’t you? Dangit!
Anyway, Thor. Going to go see it, definitely, if only because it looks like Agent Coulson is finally getting some serious screen time. Well that and the giant robot.
I’ve been a bit of a posting fiend today haven’t I? Well sadly I was behind on my feeds so all of you now get tons of new and interesting things to learn such as
Seriously. It is like they are reading my brain. First X-23, Deadpool, and Amaterastu are playable characters. And now you’re creating an alternate control scheme similar to one of my favorite fighting games, so I don’t have to learn complicated thumb hurting input schemes to pull off cool maneuvers? What’s next? Nightcrawler and a compelling storyline?? Haha okay I ask for too much, I know.
And don’t worry hardcore fans. This “Simple Control” mode is purely optional. It might not even be allowed in online multi-player I imagine! And for those of you who haven’t seen the trailer.
Wow. I hadn’t even heard of this game until I caught this trailer. The trailer alone makes me drool. I did some digging and found this article telling us what we know so far.
Roll Your Own Mutant in Silicon Knights’ X-Men Destiny By Jason Schreier (Wired)
It seems this is the newest game by Silicon Knights, who brought us the awesome games Eternal Darkness for the Game Cube and the Game Cube remake of Metal Gear Solid, as well as recently the not so critically acclaimed Too Human. The game will be some kind of RPG where you play a new mutant, and the game will have a heavy focus on story rather than just combat. It’ll delve into what it is like to become a mutant and how that effects you, and how people treat you.
Which is totally awesome! I have high hopes for this one guys.
